      The Cinema Wellman Project: Preview

Another project, another explanation of sorts.  Par for the course by now.

I thought of this at the end of January, but since February was taken up by The Chelsea CD Project, this new endeavor premiers today.

At the end of each month, I'll be posting a full list of the movies I watched during that month. Along with that list will be a Top 10/Bottom 5 for that month's movies. January will be posted later today, February on Friday. They'll then pop up at the end of every month after that.

As a lifelong fan of lists, I compile them on a variety of topics and I frequently seek out lists and rankings online. One thing that drives me absolutely crazy is looking up a list online that ranks something and that list STARTS WITH #1!!!!! I HATE that! If I want to check out the list of the Top 100 Serial Killers of All-Time, I want that list to start at #100 and work its way up to #1. Zero fun in it when you see the top choice right off the bat.

For this reason, my Bottom 5 Lists begin with #5 (the 5th worst movie I saw that month) and move up to #1 (the WORST movie I saw that month). My Top 10 Lists will follow and will appear in a #10-#1 format.

If it's just a list, then this order wouldn't matter, but if you're trying to rank things, it certainly does. For example...You can list the items in your cupboard. I'll gladly read that list 1-100, but if you're going to rank those items, you best start with #100 and move up, or I'm not interested.

Was this preview/explanation necessary? Maybe not. I'm sure you would have figured out my methods early on. I just haven't slept for a while and needed to do something other than toss and turn for hours. That also may explain why I chose examples featuring serial killers and items in your cupboard...
